SmartCote is different from "slow release fertilizers" in that all of the major nutrients are combined in each particle and covered with a "smart" coating. This "smart" coating monitors the growing conditions and releases nutrients to the plant accordingly, for an entire season

SmartCote releases nutrients into the soil on a gradual basis, over an extended period of time. There is sufficient nutrient released to satisfy all the plant’s nutrient needs.

SmartCote needs two things to make it work:

Moisture & Warmth

It’s temperature regulated!

Provided there is enough moisture for the crop to grow, the coating 

releases more nutrients as the temperature warms up. If it cools down, it slows down. In other words, it parallels the nutrient requirements of the plant - more in ideal growing conditions and less in unfavourable conditions.
