New
Rose Honours Diana, Princess of Wales
Jackson & Perkins Rose Officially
Approved by The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund and the Princess of
Wales’ Estate.
Jackson & Perkins, the world’s largest producer
of roses, announced the development of a new rose in honour of Diana,
Princess of Wales. Named the "Diana, Princess of Wales rose," it
carries the approval of the Princess’ Estate and the Fund established in
her memory.
Fifteen percent of the
retail purchase price from the
sale of each rose will be donated to The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial
Fund, the London-based organization established to carry on the legacy of
the Princess, charitable work.
The new rose was officially debuted during a ceremonial
planting in the rose garden at the British Embassy in Washington D.C. with
Lady Meyer, wife of the British Ambassador, planting the rose and being
presented a bouquet of the new rose.
The Diana, Princess of Wales rose is a classic hybrid
tea. Its ivory petals are overlaid with a clear pink blush, and the large,
elegantly-shaped buds open into graceful, full flowers with impeccable
form and a sweet fragrance. The long stems make it a perfect cutting
flower.
